Conference with John Piper

This weekend I had the privilege to sit under the ministry of Dr John Piper hosted by Jubilee Church, Enfield. I had been looking forward to the 1 day conference and was anticipating excellent ministry. I was certainly not disappointed, John spoke on the role of a Pastor and his congregation. His main point was that as Pastors we are to help our people come to realise that outside of Christ there is not real lasting satisfaction or joy. The reality that salvation brings joy in a believers life and if there is no joy there cannot be salvation. He used many proof text’s to show that one of God’s chief aims is that we may know joy deeply only through knowing Christ and the joy that he gives.
Phil 3:8
Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ
Paul did not get his joy from ’stuff’, health, wealth or even prosperity but his joy was in the supremacy of Christ. The ministry was both refreshing and challenging. In the afternoon I was invited to a closed session to hear from John’s heart and even ask a burning question on his position of benefits of the atonement. another highlight ws meeting Adrian Warnock a preacher, blogger and that fact that he had the latest iPhone 4 impressed me! His blog is well worth a visit with some great stuff. It’s not often I recommend blogs so you won’t be disappointed.
After the conference I visited my beloved Spurs ground and prayed they would win the premiership next season!
